WCI’s NEW SERVICE

World Comics India launched syndicated comics service in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to place it in regional newspapers. The project was primarily for 3 months, which commenced on 21st May 2007 and ended on 31st August 2007. The idea behind the syndicated “Grassroots Comics Strip Service” was to disseminate information on varied issues to a wider audience. These are comics drawn by common people living in rural hinterland and moffusil towns of the country. None of them are professional artists but they have been using comics as a tool for communication. All of these comics have been developed in different workshops organised by World Comics India, in the past few years. As most of the contents were produced locally, so it was able to attract attention of the newspaper readers in the three states where the project was launched. Comics drawn in four-panel format had been converted into comic strip form, so that it can be circulated to newspapers, magazines and NGOs’ journals.
