Comics: in a new role

Comics in a new role is a self-published, photocopy format compilation of comic wall posters, 4-panel and 8-panel stories created by the authors over the past two years. WCI and Gram Seva Samiti, Hoshangabad published these posters. The authors hail from Hirenkheda village in Madhya Pradesh. This 24-page book is an insight into the scenario existing in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. Through the medium of comics the efforts of activists like Champalal, Meera and Neetu are directed towards bringing local issues into public debate. Agriculture, economic independence of farmers, increased participation of women in panchayat and village administrations are some of the issues addressed.
