Goenkar Changemakers is a group of socially active students from different colleges across Goa namely Salgaoncar college, DMC college,Dempo college, Dhempe college, Rosary college. This group was formed in August 2006, soon after a series of comics workshops in Goa. Grassroots Comics has become the main tool of this group to spread the awareness on various issues in Goa.
The Goenkar Changemakers in collaboration with the “Goa State Commission of Children” have also organised a “Grassroots comics mobile exhibition” which covered the 11 talukas, 2 districts and around 40 villages of Goa.
The core team members of the groups are Danis D’Souza, Dipti Arolkar, Reshma, Tushar, Jibrahim and Vijaylaxmi.
Newways- Assam
New Ways“ is a group of comics activists who are students of Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati UniversityThe group was formed after a series of comics workshops in Assam by World Comics India.
The group has been formed to bring focus on various issues through comics, important for the community including smoking, environment, health, disaster management, conflict, peace etc.; to stimulate discussion on such problems and to motivate people to take necessary steps through discussions, campaigns etc.
When the idea of Grassroots Comics was initially introduced in Mizoram. There was bit doubt about the response on this visual communication methodology in the state as it has second high literacy rate in the country. We were bit apprehensive, if this idea will work the same way as it has worked in low literacy areas.
The response, after our first comics workshop was overwhelming and results were outstanding.
The Mizoram Artists Society our main partner in the state understood the power of this medium and used it in all possible ways. The two state government department supported the comics wallposter idea and soon a Mizo language wallposter
KAWHHMUHTU started from Aizawl. Even then MP from the state also supported it. Now Mizoram has several comics notice boards in Govt. departments, Press Club, School, College and NGOs office. A number of issues from HIV/AIDS, Malaria, vector born disease, Jhoom Cultivation, water, environment has been covered in these comics.
This poster is circulated to far of villages of the state, thanks to the sumo service.
Even many local youth were trained as comics trainers.

Comics Division Jharkhand
A number of Comics activists are using Grassroots Comics in Jharkhand to address the local issues. The comics division has many trainers to run workshops and several organization subscribe the idea. From Sunder Mohan Murmu, Lalita bari, Babita Sundi, Anam Purty, Lakhindra nayak Geeta, Budhram to Thomas Sundi, there is a strong team of trainers spreading this communication tool.
Jharkhand is a small state in eastern India with a tribal majority. The state is rich in minerals but the indigenous people are neglected. Several organisations work there on various issues such as tribal rights, environmental problems, patent rights, displacement of people, etc.
Over the years, these wallposters has covered topics such as witch-hunting, alcoholism, population control, cultural pollution, migration, displacement, Patent, youth issues, etc.. The human rights organisation, Aasra, Zila Mahila samiti, Mahila Samakhya, JOAR, and JOHAR-Birsa have mainly used the comics. Sain-Maskal, Ebhen Marshaal and Gyan Darpan are few regular comics wallposters in the state.

Comics Manch Barmer
Comics Manch Barmer was formed in 2006 after Girl Child Right campaign in western Rajasthan. A group of youngsters decided to take the comics activity forward and use it to raise social issue in the society. Hansaram , Kabu, Suresh, Rajpal are active member of the core team. The group also brought out their regular wallposter titled “chokhi Baat”.
Members like Kabu and Suresh has trained many youth and children of their area in this way of communication.

Marathwada Comics Club
Marathwada Comics Club is a new club, formed recently in Aurangabad. After a series of workshops organised in collaboration with BAMU University in Aurangabad (Maharasthra) a group of Mass Communication department decided to take the idea forward in the state. So far a number of workshops have been organised in MSW department and for NGOs activists in the city.
