How it works- Grassroots Comics movement is a volunteer supported movement. Through our wide network of volunteer via partner organizations and institutes we are spread in different locations of the globe.
A Comics workshop is generally for a three to four days period. If it were a trainers’ workshop the length would be upto 6-7 days.
World Comics mostly organize workshops on invitation from NGOs, Institutes and Universities. But World Comics also has its priority and mandate to support small organizations and people’s movement, therefore funds and invitation is not a criterion to organize a workshop.
Grassroots comics is a cost effective medium, therefore one only needs a pencil, paper, black pen and something to say. A group of 15-20 participants may attend one workshop. A workshop hall with table and chair is ideal but we are used to working on floor. (Better if old newspapers are available to support your drawing paper). An access to photocopying the creations is always helpful as grassroots comics are photocopy format.
We announce our workshops mostly on Facebook “Comics Power” group and on news section of the website. Kindly join/monitor the same. Also you can mail us such request; we would try our best to contact you. You are right, you don’t require any artistic skill to draw one such comics and anybody can join no age, caste, creed, religion, gender and nationality bar.
World Comics organizes workshop for Trainers time to time, send us one request and we would let you know the same. There is no as such skill required to become one but yes a burning desire for it would help.
World Comics headquarter is based in Delhi and we always need volunteer to support in several work related to documentation, creative writing, translation, blogging, art and designing.
Universities, Institutes specially Development Communication, Mass Communication & Journalism, Social Work are welcome to send their students. Individuals of any field with social bent of mind are also encouraged to apply.
